Oil road

Villages and castles of Valdinievole

The oil road extends over the hills that from Uzzano add the medieval villages of Massa and Cozzile, with its castle that characterizes the country. It comprises the entire municipalities of Uzzano, Borgo Buggiano and Massa Cozzile, and develops on a hilly territory rich in olive groves arranged on terraces, small woods and farmhouses that characterize the rural territory.

The oil road of the villages and castles of Valdinievole connects and connects through a dense network of municipal roads and close to all the larger towns to small villages and castles.

One of the most representative is undoubtedly the Colligiana, which joins the streets of Via Buggiano Colle and Via Colle Massa, passing through the historic centers of Buggiano and Colle with their narrow streets and corners that seem sculpted by a painter. But we cannot forget the Via del Colli to Uzzano that connects the historic center of Uzzano, the small hamlet of La Costa and the Pianacci, which is the highest part of the entire hilly area.

The route of Cessana climbs for a territory, where Margini and Pievi forgotten, are the testimony of how once time went slow.

Walking through these places you can take guided tours in the historic centers or farms, taste oil and local cuisine in the taverns, farms or restaurants that dot the territory.
